It's almost summer!

Without a doubt, summer is my favorite season. Baseball, swimming, grilling.... and I love going barefooted. The top in my little VW Bug will stay down until the temperature dips below sixty. The lawns are green and the flowers are in bloom. On Friday nights my husband and I drive down to the Ohio River where we dine outside at a tiny marina that serves a delicious fish sandwich and has a live band.

My question to you is: what is your favorite summer activity? Reading by the pool? Playing corn hole or volleyball in your backyard? Going to the beach? Fishing? You tell me ;-)

I have a summer time prize package for one of the bloggers.... I'll pick randomly from the summer activity suggestions.

Swimming in the pool. We usually go to Ohio to visit family. We may be going to Pigeon Forge, TN.

I have a fenced backyard with lots of flowers, and I enjoy sitting out there and reading. I love my TV programs, but it *is* a relief not to be a slave to watching the latest episode of whatever -- gives me a chance to catch up on books and movies. I like going on walks and just chatting with the neighbors who are out enjoying the weather.

I love having the unstructured free time with my boys, we can just take each day as it comes, without worrying about having to be somewhere at a certain time, and can travel a bit, or tackle a craft project, hit the movies, or kick back and read. We just enjoy spending lots of time togehter relaxing & having fun together all summer long!

Summer is my favorite time of the year too! My husband and I got married on the first day of summer. Is is a neat anniversary. Anyway, my favorite activity would have to be going to the beach. I love looking out at the beautiful water, walking along the sand, riding bikes at the beach, anything. Which is a new activity to enjoy since moving to California.

I love going to the park and cooking out and playing with my niece and children of friends. There is nothing like the laughter of a child when they are playing and having fun.

Hmmm. This is a tough one for me! I prefer the beaches in winter (as the Cali winter is mild and it's generally less crowded). I guess reading while dangling my feet in the pool is always nice:)

One of my favorite summer memories, though, is the 4th of July. I grew up on a street that was pretty close-knit. The kids used to dress up on the 4th of July and have a parade. We'd even get awards/prizes. Then we'd have "games" like the egg toss or licorice "kiss" and a potluck at the end of the culdesac.

And Kelley, my parents got married on the first day of summer as well! It's my sister's bday (years later lol) too:)

I like to sit in my backyard and read. I have been doing yard work over our long weekend (something I hate to do), but have the patio all set up now and have cleared the way for doing just that.......reading and tall iced tea, or iced coffee.

My favorite activity would have to be camping when it's not scalding hot and horsebackriding near by our campsite in the Shenandoah Valley Mountains (where else?). Haven't gone in awhile and may not this year since my surgery back in February, but if I had to pick a summer activity other than what you mentioned, it would be those two activities - one just cannot go without the other..Don't do much swimming, but sitting by the water, preferably the Chesapeake Bay or Patuxent River, or at one of the many restaurants along it where there is a live band when I'm not doing the other kind I mentioned..LOL

Usually it's too hot to do much here in the summer. So, we like to hang out by the pool or have famil barbecues.

Ok, really dumb question here, but what the heck is corn hole? lol I live in KY and no beaches close by but on the rare times we have made it to Flordia, I spent hours and hours walking the beaches.

My favorite activity here is sitting in the yard at my inlaws, filled with big huge trees. I love hearing the breeze in the leaves and relaxing in the swing reading a good book. We are headed there today for a Memorial Day get together, so hoping I can talk one of the kids out of the swing for a while. lol
