Last Plans for Summer

Summer? Was there a summer?? Holy cow, we’re down to the last two weeks and I have no idea where it’s gone! Why can’t winter fly by this fast? I never get nearly as much done as I planned, though that’s pretty much the way of life no matter what time of year it is.

But now that it’s down to the wire I’ve got to cram in a few more things before the leaves fall and there’s that first chill in the air. First I’m going to wear all the white stuff in my closet before I sadly put it away and drag out the fall clothes that I look retched in. I cannot wear fall colors. A deep pink or rust is about it. The rest...blah and I look like a baby elephant in jeans.

We’re definitely having ribs on Labor Day and doing the home-made ice cream thing once more. And I’m hitting the final sales on summer clothes to get a jump start on next year...if there’s anything left. Seems that when I try this all the leftover stuff looks so shabby and picked over.

And I’m running around in bare feet as long as I can get away with it and using my little yellow and white purse a few more times and enjoying the final burst of flowers.

So, what do you have planned for the end of summer? What are you determined to get done before we say good-by to the lazy days and jump into fall and football and getting ready for the holidays?

Hugs,
Dianne

Hi Dianne! Sounds like you still have plenty you want to do. Things are always so crazy around here I just take it one day at a time. I would love to visit with family more before the weather gets cold.

A cookout would be nice too, and if we could include the family, it would be even better!

Hope you enjoy the rest of your summer!

Ribs...good idea for Labor Day. I'm going to plan on having that, too. Today it's only in the 60s and raining where I'm at so it seems like fall is here already. I want to go swim in the lake a few more times before summer ends.

I'm going to study for my driver's license.
If it doesn't rain, we're going to have a BBQ with a couple of friends. And of course if the sun will shine (but I'm afraid it won't), I'm going to enjoy every minute of that too.

Why can't summer last a little longer? :(

Definitely try to be outside and enjoy wearing shorts and sandals before they have to be put away. This has been a rainy, cooler weekend, so I'm hoping we'll have a warmer fall to enjoy. I hope everyone gets the chance to enjoy these last few weeks of summer :)

I just scooted my son back to college after a very long summer at home. So my plans include getting thru my tbr pile of both ebooks and paper that have been staring at my for 3 months. I can't wait.

Now, I love fall! I look horrible in all fall and winter colors except for navy, gray and black, but I still love Fall, when the breezes bring the scent of leaves and the the colors that nature makes are fabulous.
For labor day we're not doing much. Maybe grilling a few steaks and potatoes, not to mention the last of the corn!
Have a great time AND I bought The MOrgue the Merrier this weekend!

A lot of BBQs and swimming in the pool. Although, the water has gotten chilly lately. lol. I hate for summer to end.

Hi Dianne! Great to come over and say Hi. I know its so hard to believe its the end soon of summer. I send off my 'baby' to college next weekend (he makes me proud, he got scholarships so he could do this) and its hard thinking of letting him go next weekend. So we'll be doing that and since he won't be home labor day, we will be visiting my father in law, bringing food to his house for the cookout. My daughter loves to cook (and she's good!). If I'm up to the walking, we plan one more visit to the flea market too!
You have a great rest of the summer too!

OK - I got laid off at the beginning of the summer so I'm determined to find a new job before summer officially ends.

Good luck getting everyting done Dianne. I just want to spend a little more time on the deck enjoying the nice weather before it's gone.

I want to wear my whites and sandals as much as possible. I also want to get my fill of BBQ and potato salad as well as watermelon.

We haven't had our share of summer weather here and for that reason I haven't even got around to buying a whole watermelon. Rain or shine I'm going to get one. And if the weather heats up I'd like to make some more ice cream.

I always try to plan a bbq for Labor Day weekend and throw open the windows to let the cooler air in after the hot summer.

Then I start putting away the summer clothes and get out the winter ones.

I plan to enjoy the last few days of sun and heat with a couple of quiet days by the pool (kids go back to school Wed.)

My DH has a b-day on Sept. 4 so Labor Day is always a party for him and his twin.

As for football, it's already started. Preseason Baby. GO DALLAS!!!!!! I love them boys!!!

Hey Dianne-

I hope to finish getting my "spring" cleaning done before the end of summer. Been cleaning out closets and donating unwanted items to the goodwill or mission slowly over the past couple of months. I have a few boxes left to go through.

I must admit though I am a fall person. It's my favorite season as you get the warmth in the day and the chilly good sleeping weather in the evening and you can't beat the beauty of the trees as the leaves change.

You mentioned end of season shopping...actually that's when I do most of my shopping...love to find a good bargin. Don't we all.

Looking forward to the new football season as well. GO COLTS!!! Sorry couldn't resist.

have a good day.

My plans are to enjoy the cooler temperatures by getting to read outside again! And watching all of the butterflies and hummingbirds migrate!
