Say hello to....

We have a new member! Erin McCarthy is joining us. Welcome to Vamps and Scamps, Erin. Stupid Blogger isn't letting me load Erin's cover, but I'll try again later today.

Also... *G* I'm taking the lazy way out of blogging today. Instead of actually trying to use brain cells to think of a post, I'm just going use Erin's joining the group as my blog topic. You can check out Erin's site here. And since everybody knows that authors love to answer questions... *G* I asked Erin a couple of questions.

1)How did you get started writing?

Way back in the day, I actually won a writing contest in first grade (it was a paranormal ) and I was send to a regional competition at a huge high school (it was a school with carpet! Clearly the big leagues) and they read my book in front of an audience and gave me a nifty ribbon. I was hooked. I never really stopped writing, and got serious about it when I was at home with my kids.

2)What's your latest release about?

I have a novella out in BAD BOYS OF SUMMER, with Lori Foster and Amy Garvey, and that rounds out my four bowling friends. Then in August, my first vampire book is out, HIGH STAKES. Las Vegas. A vampire in politics. A woman who knows karate and isn't afraid to use it. Lots of fun. ;-)

3)Ever get frustrated with writing? What do you do? Somebody at RTB mentioned throwing the characters to the lions...

What's frustrating for me is that if the writing isn't going well, I know it's my fault. It means I've screwed up the story somewhere. And I hate that. So I step away, whine, talk incessantly about my characters to anyone who will listen. My husband is good for this because a lot of times he'll suggest something so ridiculous that it forces me to defend my story, and in the process I find the key I was looking for. This process lasts a day. If it lasts longer than that, I shut up, sit down, and write until I figure it out.

4)Want to tell us what is in progress now?

High Stakes (August) launches my vampire trilogy- which may be more than three if readers like them- and in 2007 my first dark paranormal book will be out. No title yet, but it's set in Louisiana and features an immortal hero, Damien du Bourg, who is a demon servant. This is a departure from what I usually write and I am having so much fun doing it. I think I'm been suppressing my dark side, and in this one, I let a little of it out to play.

*****

Erin, thanks so much for giving me an easy out of blogging today... I had an idea written down somewhere and I lost it.
