Guilty Pleasures

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Karl and I were sort of naughty--no, no, no, not that! We called the kids and told them we loved them but we weren't going to be home for the holiday. Was that bad or what? We felt like little kids doing something we weren't supposed to do.

But you see, we had free tickets to see Loretta Lynn in concert (she was absolutely fabulous!) and entry into a slot tournament. I cannot pass up a slot tournament. We had to go right by Billy's house so we did end up spending Thanksgiving with him and his girlfriend. That was nice. Our daughter and her family were going in the opposite direction.

But then we crept out of the house early the next morning and played all weekend and had the best time! I didn't take any work whatsoever. That was a first in a very long time. I didn't realize how often I take something to work on. When we got home I felt refreshed and eager to write.

Karl and I don't "escape" that often. I highly recommend it. For us, we love to go to the boats---The Horseshoe. We always feel pampered and it's a party atmosphere, the rooms are suites (I could do without the mirrors on the one wall!)

That's our guilty pleasure. Where is your favorite place to go? Wherever it is, I'll add a gift boxed scented candle to one lucky winner who adds their fav place. It doesn't have to be with someone. Maybe you just like to curl up with a good book? I'll announce the winner tonight.
Hugs,
Karen Kelley

You naughty girl! LOL I think that women have the hardest time doing things for themselves so you go girl!

My guilty pleasures usually involve eating fattening things...I've been buying ice cream lately.... shh don't tell. I also watch mindless television when I could be (should be) doing something productive.

Hi Karen. Your "naughty" weekend sounds wonderful. It's been years since DH and I even had a night out, a whole weekend would be heavenly.

For our 10th Annniversary we took off for a few days and just drove. Stopped when and where we wanted, looked at tons of antiques and just really enjoyed getting out and away from everything. We just celebrated our 27th Anniversary on Thanksgiving Day and am still waiting for another time away from it all. Some day, we will be able to do it again.

We spent our mini honeymoon at Cumberland Falls, Ky and that is always a nice treat for us to go back and see. Lovely country, especially in the autumn with all the wonderful fall follage.

I adore being able to just sit back and do nothing, especially if a good book is involved. I was reading an arc on Thanksgiving that one of my author friends shared with me. Always nice to find a good book and time to enjoy it.

Hope the rest of the holiday season is wonderful for you too!

My guilty pleasure involves stretching out on the futon in our sunroom when the sun is shining in and it's nice and toasty - I always start out reading, but typically wake up later with the book on my chest or next to my head. No wonder the cat and dog following the rays of sunshine across the floor - it's delicious!

Napping. Love sleeping. Or now I'm trying to travel more, so tomorrow I'm off to Vegas for a few days. I think women need to give themselves permission to pamper themselves. We just do. Stop worrying about everyone else and take care of you. I truly believe that.

LuAnn, You're always naughty! Not just one particular day! LOL

Deb, I love antiques! Karl and I will do that--just take off and go driving.

Jana, we put in a whirlpool a few years ago. Add candles and a CD (love Enya!) and it's pure heaven!

LaurieD Yep, I know where you're coming from. For me it's the back porch. Sometimes I take my laptop out there and work.

Stacy, Vegas! Ohhhh, have a fabulous time! Partay!!!

Kim, I polished off the last of the beef jerky yesterday. A friend gave it to us and it was sooooo good.

My guilty pleasure is going to the Argosy in Ohio. I like to play the penny slots. Last time, I won $200. My friend won $400. I also loved going to Myrtle Beach. I've been there once but we stayed a week and I loved it. It was also the first time I saw the ocean.

My hubby built me this fantastic window box seat where I can curl up with my down comforter and a good book and watch the squirrels race around. It totally recharges me.

Amy, I love the ocean! We didn't get down to the coast this year but hopefully we will next year.

Cathy, aren't squirrels funny! I had one on the porch this year and I thought it's foot must be caught in something because it let me get really close. I sat in the chair and talked to it for a long time, then it took off. I guess he just wanted to visit. LOL

My guilty pleasure is taking a good book, putting the answering machine on, and curl up on the chesterfield under a nice big quilt and read. I can get lost in the story and totally relax.
