So, did you or didn’t you...

Shop Black Friday that is. Did you brave the malls? WalMart? Stand in line freezing your backside off to get a Wii or another must-have toy? Elbow, trip, push, gouge you way to a sale rack for that best sale ever? And did you get it or wind up empty-handed. My son waited for four hours—from 3 AM to 7 AM for that Wii thing!! 

Yep, this is the time of year where we spend forever shopping for just that right present. Weeeeell, maybe I shouldn’t use we as I’m doing terrible in the present department!

So tell me, what great prize you got so I can be totally jealous? What special thing for that special someone you know will really make their Christmas morning because it’s what they want and your wait and search made it all worth the effort?

And the price?? What totally terrific price did you pay? I heard someone got a personal DVD player for 39$! Holy moly!
What a find!

Tell me your Black Friday tale!

Yes, I went to Walmart. Got over there at 2:30 to find the item I was looking for. They had some Bratz 24 inch dolls that were a limited collectors edition for $20. I saw one on Ebay sale for $150. I got two of them. I also got an I-Dog for niece or nephew. They had it for $10. It wasn't as bad as last year. Last year, I had people trying to take the items I was getting.

I did, I actually went out twice. Once mid-morning and once mid-afternoon.

My buy of the day? I got a $200 black hip-length leather coat for $38 :)

We went to Best Buy around 4am in search of a $200-$400 laptop. The lines were literally around the building back to the front doors. The male insisted on waiting even though I was like, "We aren't getting it."

Apparently some people who were there as early as NINE PM didn't get what they came for. Fucking crazy.

We did get me a video card for half the price it was normally, and $150 cheaper than what we'd intended on paying... so I'm happy. :)

(Yes, I am a geek. LOL.)

Nope, not me. Didn't want anything bad enough to stand in those lines and circle the parking lots hoping to find a space. When I drove by Woodfield Mall, cars were taking over restaurant and bank parking lots too. I just headed over to the bookstore and was very happy.

My sister and I used to go every year but once her kids got older we had no need to be up at 4 am to get that special toy. I went out around 3:30 and shopped for about an hour or so before I had to go to work at the bookstore. I did some internet shopping too. I have been saying nothing is worth me shopping at 5 am anymore.
I guess my best deal was at bath and body. with a 10 off coupon if I spent over 30 and a got a free perfume for also spending over 30

Wow, your Black Friday, sounds like our Boxing Day here in Canada. Only it is held the day after Christmas on the 26th, and it is much the same, people lining up for the great prices, for all the things they never got for Christmas. It gets crazy at the shopping centres and I used to go out into the fray, but now stay home in the warm house..........LOL

I wish they did something like this before Christmas instead of after, it would certainly help with the shopping experience.

I didn't go shopping on Black Friday. The older I get, the less I want to be around big crowds of people.

Dianne, what does your son think of the wii? I don't play video games, but have heard of it from my brother and a funny episode of "South Park." It's supposed to be really interactive, I think.

I usually go out shopping on Black Friday with either my sister or my mom. However, this year, my sister is stationed back East and my mom didn't really want to go. And, I had nothing that I absolutely had to have (no one was handing out free money LOL) so decided not to go out early in the morning.
I did go shopping in the afternoon and got a kid's digital camera for my daughter for only $15.
Our Wal-Mart still has some of the Firday morning special buys for the sale price!

Wow, you all got some great buys!!
I am totally impressed! I knew I should get up and wait in lines. I love a good sale. I hope they have a few more next weekend and I'll drink coffee and eat chocolate and go out into the madness.
A sugar/caffine high to keep me going. :-)
Keep me posted on other sales.
As for the Wii. I'll ask my son today and see what he says. He's really into computers etc. And as for geeks...geeks rule the world!
:-) Nothing wrong with that.
Hugs, Dianne

I think it was yesterday that I saw a commercial for the wii. The people looked like they were having a grand ol' time playing all these interactive games.

I love geeks. As long as they're not TOTALLY socially-awkward, they're a-okay (and sometimes hot) in my book. :) I like the term geek chic to describe guys.

Umm.....let's see.....

Bought a new computer chair. Stood in line and chatted with others while i waited.

Bought a foot spa for 14.99.

Gifts for Christmas. Mainly clothes.

I just get a rush going out and getting into the spirit of it. So far everyone has been nice.

I did buy a new Hoover Steam Vac on Thanksgiving Day at Shopko. Gosh, those are the times to snag a good deal or two. That is certainly becoming my tradition.
