I didn't have to look hard to find a blog topic for this week. November 24, Thanksgiving Day, is one of those rites of passage in my life... I was born on Thanksgiving Day, and this year once again, my birthday falls on Turkey Day. My mom never lets me forget that my advent into the world made her miss out on the traditional dinner that year. :)
But 2005 is more momentous than most... this year is a milestone for me... more than forty, but less than sixty. Half a century... the same number of years as there are states in the union. Do you get my drift??? It's confession time here!! Seeing the number written down or spoken out loud sort of makes me cringe. How did this happen?? Inside I still feel like I just graduated from college. Ha!
Now don't get me wrong. I don't want to stop having birthdays. My two dearest friends died early, one of breast cancer in her thirties, and one of ovarian cancer in her forties. So I am fully aware of how very precious it is to have each hour, each day, each year. And I plan to be an outrageous 95 year old lady one day.
I do feel extremely blessed, and regardless of the "number" on this birthday, I am so very thankful for all the happy moments in my life. I have a sweetie-pie husband and a wonderful marriage, two lovely daughters who make me proud, and a second career that brings me lots of joy and satisfaction!!
And last but not least, I am grateful for the many new friends I have made in the last few years, friends who love and treasure books as much as I do. For all of you online buddies (and some of you I know in person!), I wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving with good food, good friends, and family members who don't drive you completely crazy. :) :)
Love, Janice

Happy Birthday (early cause you know I'll forget LOL). Have a great day eat a lot of stuff! It is the time of year to give thanks for loved one who have passed and especially for the loved one who are still with us!!!!
Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Birthday, Janice! It's truly a blessing to be alive and well and surrounded by our loved ones.
Happy Birthday you young thing you...And happy thanksgiving too. My brother and sister were born on the 4th of July so we all hear about that too. I know what you mean about the number. I turned 45 this past year and I still can't wrap my brain around it. Enjoy your day. Happy thanksgiving to all....
If you feel young on the inside it doesn't matter how old you get!
Happy Early Birthday. I know what you mean by not feeling your age. I feel the same way, like I've yet to accomplish what I'd intended to when I was in college, still feeling like I'm in college and think I have all the time in the world still left in order to do what I set out to doing, yet never take anything for granted either! Have a great Thanksgiving/Birthday ever this year you sweet young thang you!
Have a wonderful birthday Janice! You deserve it. You are definitely young for your age, have lots of energy and enthusiasm, and an amazing sense of humor. Thank you for reminding us of what's truly important and to not take it for granted.
Happy early birthday, Janice. And Happy Thanksgiving to each and everyone of you. I hope that you all have an enjoyable and relaxing day with friends and families.
Janice, you are only as old as you feel, and if you are young at heart, it does not matter how old you are. You seem to be enjoying yourself and happy at it, and that is all that counts.
You ladies are the best! I feel all warm and fuzzy from reading your fun comments.
And by the way... I have found my favorite mantra... "Fifty is the new thirty". :)
Age is not about numbers, just about your state of mind. Happy Birthday! Ummm, maybe you can have some Pumpkin Cake.
Happy Birthday!!! Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!
Hey Janice
Happy Birthday and Happy Thanksgiving.
I was born on the day after Thanksgiving, my Mom always said that she thought she had just eaten too much turkey. I had the same number birthday as you. Actually I'm kinda surprized I made it to this one. Some others are surprized too:) I had a lot to be grateful for this Thanksgiving, my three girls whom I am very proud of, my dh is still alive and kicking:) We had a nice dinner, with a lot of laughter and good food, no arguments, just a very nice happy time. dh had to work so he came in later and since he is still not eating solids we got most of the food out of the way before he came home. Lots of leftovers though:) I hope everyone here had a wonderful holiday and Janice, may you have another ** birthdays to match the first **. hugs, Shari
